Kevin Lyttle - Good SOCA music from the Caribbean! My favorite: Turn Me On
Good Try... - 3.5 stars actually...Kevin showed us a mixture of Soca and R&B,it s cool! I love the hot single Turn Me On,and the whole album is suitable to listen in summer dayz...But obviously, Kevin s work is lack of changes, all songs seem too same...Whatever,it s a good try...
Get it Kevin - I haven t pulled this cd out for awhile. The song I bought it for is one of m favourite all time dance songs. You can never get tired of hearing Turn Me On. There were a couple of songs I was on the fence about, but like alot of albums the songs change their definition of sound. If you give songs on a cd that went under the rader for years they take on a new life of their own. When I first bought the album I was so caught up with the one hit Turn Me on, I didn t have the time of day to really open myself up to hear the other songs. Now I like the songs Call Me, I love the early eighties vibe and Kevin s vocals are right on time on this track (sounds like early Michael Jackson vibes) and Screaming out m name, Ya Kiss and Dance With Me. There are a couple of songs I skip over but I am glad to know there some other songs on this cd that hooked me. It frustrates me that singers like Ashlee Simpson can put out 2 records and real vocalists are not supported to release more material. I hope Kevin will put out another cd. He has the kind of thing that makes you feel good. You can hear his music playing on cruise ships or clubs by the beach. Go head Kevin.
Very good for crossover soca - I understand that a few people thought the lyrics of this album needed some work. They must not be very familiar with contemporay soca music. This is Party music. Not music for soul searching. In general party music tends to be focused on 3 things: wine(figuratively and literally),women and song. Having said this, this album is an excellent example of caribbean party music. The melodies are catchy. The beat is infectious and makes you want to dance, groove , jam and wine. The songs flow well into each other and you can just play the cd for a good party without having to play dj. This is SOCA FETE music. Play this when you just want to sweat and have a ball.If you want lyrics or social commentary try CALYPSO, the more serious sister of soca.
Good try for a first album - Great to see a son from he Caribbean doing so well - the islands have a wealth of talent just waiting to be unleashed. In response to Tristan meccax5 from Baldwin New York - Adrian Bailey the original producer of Turn Me On - Dance With Me and Call Me on Kevin s album will be launching an album early next month with a lot of artistes including Troots and Ice the album is called STING - we in the region are anxiously awaiting this album. It should be on sale right here on Amazon or on the studios website www.skystudios.net. Look out for it.
